Informational Session on PPACA Scheduled in AR
Arkansas residents will soon have access to more information about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Cowley First, the Arkansas City and Winfield Area Chambers of Commerce, along with the South Central Kansas SHRM Chapter will host an informative session on the Affordable Care Act on July 24 at Southwestern College.
The Affordable Care Act, also known as “health care reform” or PPACA, was passed into law in March 2010. The law contains provisions to reform the health care insurance industry, with the biggest changes occurring by Jan. 1, 2014.
To help local businesses, employers and consumers better understand the law and its impact on them, these organizations are co-hosting a free informative session from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. July 24 in Messenger Recital Hall at Southwestern College.
Information will be provided at the federal, state, and local levels. Those who attend will learn more about individual and employer mandates, including new developments affecting employers such as minimum participation and maximum contribution requirements in group insurance policies.
